How do i purloin the facade plate rotten my wood lathe?

I screwed it onto the threaded head stock to see what it looked like, when i try to nick it off the head stock turns. The direction guide has nothing on how to nick it off. There does not seem to be any character of locking mechanism to lock the head stock so i can use the wrench on the frontage plate. Does anyone know how to get it off? :(
"> Lock the head-stock.
(Look harder, - There will be a method to do it.)
Then lever it off.
I don't know what kind of lathe you hold, but can you hold the chuck lockdown on the outside of the machine head (That's the round metal plate on the outside near the threaded bar in stripe with your faceplate that holds the faceplate on). Or put a metal bar through it to hold it within place while you turn the face plate. Another way is to put it contained by a low gear or as slow as you can set it. That will give you enough tautness on the head to turn the plate.
