How to optimize time contained by machining using cnc lathe?

this question is about how to optimize machining process contained by term of time by using cnc lathe.some designs involve multiple process such as drilling,cutting,turning and so on.respectively steps that will be used will take different time to fabricate.so i want some guidelines here which way is the best to start machining process using cnc lathe..
