All my Uk electrical equipment works OK but why won"t my UK hairdryer and electric cut-throat work within australia?
Neither my hairdryer or electric razor works in Australia. I own checked plugs and setting (220- 240V) are OK so there is something about motors - what is it? Phone chargers, IPODS, camera, PC etc are adjectives Ok

NO reason at all. Australia's power is nominally 230 Volts 50 Hz. Same as UK provided you own an adapter plug.
Hotels sometimes have very low current cutouts within the bathroom so maybe your hair dryer turned stale the circuit breaker and then your shaver wouldn't work because there wasn't any power?
